Description
This inkstand, gifted to Sophia Otis (1798-1874) by Elizabeth Powel, and made by Harvey Lewis, Philadelphia silversmith, is identical to an inkstand given to Eleanor Parke Custis Lewis, George Washington's step granddaughter. The inkstand given to Eleanor is currently located at Woodlawn Plantation, in Fairfax County, Virginia.
