Description
This is a late eighteenth century "watch string," referred to modernly as a "fob," manufactured in England. In the letter from Bushrod Washington to his mother, Bushrod specifically mentions Elizabeth gifted him a "watch string," which were normally made of fabric, rather than a traditional chain.
